The two line graphs provide statistics on cinema attendance and money allocation to tickets in Australia between 1980 and 2015. Overall, the proportion of the population attending cinemas grew over the period, yet with mild fluctuations, whereas the amount of money spent on cinema tickets saw a more considerable and consistent rise.
Starting at 30%, the percentage of the Australian population attending cinemas had doubled by 1990, followed by a minimal fluctuation over the ensuing decade. After a moderate increase to around 65%, there was an even more substantial change of 15%, with cinema attendance eventually accounting for 80%, a 50 percentage point rise compared to the initial year of the period.
Expenditure on cinema tickets also followed a similar trend, albeit without any oscillations. It initially constituted nearly 150 million Australian dollars (AUD) and, throughout a 35-year span, experienced a virtually sevenfold growth, ultimately reaching approximately 1050 million AUD spent on cinema tickets.
